Top Traditional and Umbrella Strollers

Mothers With Baby Strollers Walking In ParkThese are the kinds of strollers that would be considered perfect for small families, mainly with only one child. When you’ve only got one baby to worry about, you can focus all of your attention towards them – this means ensuring that they are set-up to be comfortable wherever you happen to be going. Strollers are used on almost a daily basis because not everybody has the privilege of hiring babysitters to watch their children (either that or they’d just rather not!).

This is the variety of stroller that would keep your child both entertained and comfortable while you’re visiting the doctors’ office or any other public place that would require a bit of peace and quiet. Some of the models even allow your child you get some shut eye (through the use of sun-blocker screens and things like that). We’ll be covering more than just one type of strollers, so whether you’re looking for a single, umbrella, double, jogging stroller, there are going to be a lot of different choices.

The Most Ideal Stroller and It’s Perfectly Sized!

Graco Verb Click Connect Stroller

The Graco Verb Click Connect Stroller is pretty well-versed when it comes to handling different jobs, and that’s why it’s one of the more recommended strollers that I’m going to talk about in this section. Now, it isn’t going to be considered the fanciest or the stroller with the most features – but it’s still going to get the job done (and, it still has quite a large selection of features to work with).

It’s got a lot of storage space, which will allow you to put an abundance of baby-satisfying utensils within the stroller itself. It is incredibly lightweight and compact, which will allow you to pack it up and take it with you as you please. To be quite frank, I cannot say enough good things about this particular stroller. The color of this stroller is something to really enjoy, as it’s always going to look amazing (regardless of what you happen to be wearing; it makes use of a very neutral tone).

I love this stroller on a personal level, as I was able to benefit from it myself. I had a baby for about 3 months before I made the purchase, and I was so glad once I had! It’s a light and easily lifted stroller, but it’s still durable enough to withstand the pressure that daily tasks can dish out. It’s lightweight and compact but still manages to provide space for your diaper bags or anything else you could conjure up (underneath the carriage). There are even a few different cup holders included!

I have a minivan, and the stroller was very easy to fold up and store inside of it. It doesn’t take up too much space, something that I was quite fond of. I honestly wished that I had purchased both this specific stroller and the partnering car seat much earlier. Not only would I have been able to keep my baby much more comfortable (with less of a hassle), but it was just downright convenient. I would tell you to buy these two products in pretty much any case, that is, if you happen to be a mother. Affordability is a trait that you really want to find in your ideal stroller option, and that’s exactly what this one has to offer.

How Well Does It Maneuver?

This is the type of stroller that isn’t going to limit your movement, which has to mean something. You want to be able to move freely and as if you weren’t restricted in any sense of the word. The ease-of-use factor is going to be taken into account, regardless of what stage you happen to be at with your baby. You don’t want a stroller that’s difficult to put together, and even harder to actually make use of.

There’s a locking front-swivel wheel included within this product, as it allows for a much easier time of maneuvering the stroller itself. When you’re traveling with your baby, you don’t want the wheels to get caught up on anything – and the Graco Verb Click Connect Stroller is the most optimal choice needed in order to avoid that.

The wheels are made up of plastic, and while some people would seriously prefer rubber, they actually aren’t that bad. I’m not a fan of plastic wheels by any means, but I’ve yet to have any problems with them – not even a minor one. They work quite well, so there aren’t any complaints from this side of the field. They aren’t the brittle sort of plastic that’s going to chip away on a daily basis, but the sturdy and soft variety that will last for a much longer time.

It isn’t as quiet as rubber, but they are incredibly easy to clean (so if you happen to use a stroller while jogging or something, it may be ideal). This isn’t a stroller for dirt roads and such, as it seems to only work best on concrete or rather smooth surfaces – I’ve never tried dirt for myself, though! It was rather tough to push it in loose sand at the beach, so that’s something.

There are locks located on the rear wheels as well, which are used to make sure that the stroller isn’t going to go anywhere (when you don’t want it to, of course). It’s a very easy lock button to press, and it’s a pretty simple process to go through. You can use this stroller with every single Graco Click Connect car seat available on the market, which means you can have a customizable traveling experience with your baby. The Graco click connect seats are sold separately to the stroller, but it’s a really good product to have at your disposal. It’s a very good deal, as they aren’t too expensive either.

What About the Comfort Factor?

Graco Verb Click Connect Stroller tray

Removable child’s tray allows baby to eat and play or both at the same time!

Your baby should be more than comfortable enough through the use of this stroller, trust me. My baby was falling asleep almost every single adventure we took with this stroller, and that just shows how well they put together the suspension system (among other things). There’s a built-in suspension system to make sure that your baby is accounted for in the comfort department, as there is really no telling when you’ll be dealing with a bumpy ride. The front-swivel wheels are also able to be locked as well, which is usually used to make sure that you aren’t going off-track (and keeping in a straight line).

Comfort doesn’t only have to apply towards your baby – there are going to be strollers that appeal to the comfort of the parent as well. In this case, the handles of this stroller are set-up to make use of the parents’ energy in an efficient manner. Having handles that are too low would have you hunching down most of the time, so having the handles sit at about 40 inches high is a good thing. My husband is about 6’1, and he said that it’s a relatively comfortable position to be standing in. The handles aren’t adjustable but sit at a relatively common (and useful) height. It’s good for tall people, as well as average and shorter people.

The seat is another thing I wanted to take note of because it’s a multi-position reclining seat. This means that the baby will be able to change positions without having to feel uncomfortable, not even for a millisecond! Sometimes babies can get a little energetic and riled up, which results in them moving around a lot more than the usual day would permit. You can recline the position of your baby’s stroller seat using a strap that’s located behind the seat itself – although the footrest included does not adjust (although it does still recline, just not flat). My toddler still enjoyed sleeping in it (after about a year and a half of use), so I wasn’t upset about that at all.

The seating can never be in an absolute upright position, as that’s looked at as “unnatural” in most cases. Instead, when pulled all the way up, it has a slight recline (much like a living room couch would have). Where your child’s head rests should be a big deal, as you want them to be as comfortable as possible. This could result in a problem if there was a bar located in that are, but it’s just fabric with this product – it’s also got a padded back.

Storage Space

Graco Verb Click Connect Stroller storage

Fairly good size storage basket for a small cooler, diaper bag & some shopping bags.

Storage space means a lot when it comes to strollers, as you’re going to be lugging baby products around on a daily basis. This means you’re going to need space for your diapers, as well as space for the wipes and anything else your child may require. There’s a storage basket to make use of with this product, and it’s rather sizeable. It’s large enough to carry a backpack, which could be used to hold all of your diapers and other types of utensils. It’s also got the ability to hold a large purse, which is something that is quite common among mothers.

In order to make the most out of the stroller, and not put too much pressure on it, you shouldn’t put more than 10 pounds of weight in the basket itself. It’s better to be safe than sorry – that’s the way I always look at it!

The tray system is very useful for when you want to go about feeding your child (when talking about the pivoting child’s tray, of course). There is also a parental tray to make sue of, which can be used to hold your water bottles and other types of snacks/drinks. You can also remove the child’s tray, so you don’t need to worry about it getting in the way or anything of that nature.

Thinking of Age (How Old Should My Baby Be?)

It’s recommended that you wait a few months before you start using this stroller without Graco click connect car seat). Personally, I began using it when my baby was about 4 months old, but you could give or take a month for your own personal experience. The weight is probably a determining factor, and my baby was around 14 pounds when we began using the stroller.

If you haven’t got the car seat add-on, you may want to wait a little longer to make use of this stroller  – until your baby has good head control. With the Graco click connect car seat, you can start using it anytime.

Your baby will always be secure, as there is a 5-point harness – which will allow you to breathe a little bit easier when it comes to fussing over the age. Even if you’ve got a two-year-old that you’re looking to buy a stroller for, they should remain incredibly comfortable in it.

Lightweight Compact and Foldable

Easy to fold – with one hand and take in and out of the truck. Comes with Carry Strap too. It weighs less than 20 lbs which makes it great to travel with.

Folded Dimensions: Width: 18″, Length: 11.65″, Height: 17″

Closing Sentiments

I’ve had a need for a stroller on more than one occasion, as I’ve had the privilege of taking care of 4 different children as a mother. Initially, I was using some pretty expensive stroller selections with my first two kids. When it came to the second two, I was actually able to make use of the exact same stroller in both regards. I wanted something that was lightweight, could be compacted easily and was also really easy to operate. We also didn’t want to pay too much money, and we definitely succeeded in that regard. This stroller comes in handy in more than one way, some would go as far as saying it’s the most efficient traditional stroller they’ve ever used.

It’s well put together, didn’t cost a lot of money and has seamless movement features implemented within. Reclining the seat and moving the back up and down have never been this easy! You can fold it up completely with the use of one hand. Stroller systems that are as useful as this one, but don’t sport a crazy price tag, are rather hard to find.

Just keep in mind that this stroller is only compatible with Graco Click Connect car-seats.

Great Traditional Umbrella Stroller

Summer Infant 2015 3D Lite Convenience Stroller

We’ve already talked about one specific traditional stroller model that would do you well, but it’s time to turn our attention towards an alternative. The Summer Infant 3D-Lite Convenience Stroller is not only lightweight, but it’s also one of the most durable traditional stroller models on the market right now.

Strollers can get pretty banged up while on the road and going through travel, which means durability is going to play a relatively large role in how successful your product is. This is one of the lightest and most feature prominent products that I’m going to talk about on this list (as well as on the market in general).

This stroller makes use of the umbrella style, which is unique and allows for a much more immersive experience. It’s got some more bulk to it (when compared to your cheaper variety of umbrella strollers), but there is a very nice visor available to go along with it. The reclining seat is met with high-quality standards, and it even has good storage space – the pocket at the back is big enough to carry all of your phone and key needs. One thing that I was relatively impressed with would be the 32 oz soda cup holder that was added onto the stroller itself. The handles weren’t in a bad position, and it definitely seemed like even a taller person could use it with comfort.

My husband stands at about 6’3, and he was using the stroller – there were no complaints when it comes to discomfort and such. As a woman, I’m relatively tall (I’m 5’10), and even I felt like it was a comfortable stroller to be using. In regards to the shock absorption traits, I would say that you’d be better off with a jogging stroller. Your traditional stroller isn’t made to be used on different sorts of terrain, as opposed to something that is smooth and easily rolled on. It’s still a fantastic stroller, it just might not be for the incredibly active mother.

The plastic wheels were a bit of a turn-off, but that wasn’t too terrible – I gave the stroller a shot and it turns out that the wheels work rather well. They aren’t even actually plastic, as opposed to a foam-like material that is pretty soft. I didn’t take it upon myself to traverse any dirt roads or anything like that, but it did decent on bumpy/rocky sidewalks.

So, How Well Does It Move?

It’s easy to use, and that’s something you want to really read up on. If a stroller is complicated to put together and even harder to operate, there’s going to be a problem. You can do a diaper change on this bad boy; I think that pretty much sums up how “mobile” things can get. There isn’t a rain cover that comes along with this product, so moving around in the rain can be a challenge – that’s why I would suggest you go about purchasing a universal rain cover. The wheels aren’t  jumping all over the place, leading you off track (and away from your goal!).

Limitations (Age/Weight Limit)

I used this stroller for my six-month old, and you may be wondering if you can do the same thing – I would definitely say yes. The Summer Infant 3D-Lite Convenience Stroller can be used all the way from 5-6 months and unless you have a big baby with excellent head and body control up to when they hit the 50-pound mark.

This stroller is the perfect fit if you’re looking to travel around with an infant. There are straps that need to be buckled in before you can make use of the stroller, holding your baby in securely and making sure that they are safe and sound all the time. This stroller makes use of a reclined position, so your baby is always going to have “natural support”

The Seat

The seat is reclining, but isn’t flat – this means that you won’t be able to lay it completely flat with your baby inside (for naps while you’re walking around, and such). It still comes pretty close to being flat, although it wasn’t particularly designed to let baby’s sleep in it for extended periods of time.

There are four different recline positions for you to use, which would be: 25 degrees, 45 degrees, 55 degrees and 60 degrees. The backing of the seat is made out of polyester fiber, so there’s no need to fuss over whether the stroller has cardboard supporting the seat itself (like I said, it’s durable, which means there’s definitely not cardboard in the seat!). Some parents would say that the back of the seat is a little hard – that’s where you can just throw down some extra padding with a pillow or a blanket (or anything else of that nature).

I’ve had some pretty expensive strollers in my time, specifically, ones that were able to lay down flat; I would say that my baby was still able to sleep just as well (if not better) in this stroller model. There’s even a little flap at the back that you can lift up to provide some more ventilation, which may just be the most important attribute behind your baby’s napping ways.

Storage Space/Misc. Features

The storage space should always be a part of your thought process, as it isn’t just something for those of us that like to be “over-prepared”. Having a place to store your phone and wallet is a nice touch to essentially every single stroller you could imagine; and that rule of thumb would remain the same here. There is a storage basket to make use of with the Summer Infant 3D-Lite Convenience Stroller, and it allows you to store a relatively large diaper bag (I would say about medium sized, I couldn’t get my really big diaper bags to fit). Even when your stroller seat is completely reclined, there’s no blockage of the storage space opening – this product was built for efficiency!

Summer Infant 2015 3D Lite Convenience Stroller Storage Basket and Cup Holder

This model doesn’t have a snack tray, which was kind of a bummer, as I like to make use of those with my stroller as well. There is an attachable cup holder item that you can use, and that will allow your child to have a bit of juice (or what have you) as you’d like. It’s a very compact stroller, meaning, you’ll be able to pack it up and be on the go in merely minutes (seconds, once you start getting the hang of it).

It’s so lightweight and compact, that I was even able to take it on an airplane with ease (during our family trip out to England)! When it comes to a sizing, I would say it’s about medium sized when completely folded up. It weighs a total for 12 pounds, but it’s carried well and still remains optimal for air-travelling purposes.

It isn’t compatible with a car seat adapter – if you were looking for a selection that was going to apply to pretty much every single facet of your traveling needs in life, this one falls just a bit short.

Safety Features

One of the most important parts of your stroller is going to be the safety features, as you always want to ensure that your child is protected. As a result of always wanting the most optimal protection on the market, the Summer Infant 3D-Lite Convenience Stroller implemented a 5-point safety harness. It’s pretty standard to see this type of harness when it comes to the traditional model of stroller, so expect to see it at least once more before the guide is over.

The front wheels lock with the click of a button, and this makes sure that they won’t pivot/swivel. The product is JPMA certified, and it’s truly one of the sturdiest strollers I’ve ever used. It performs pretty good, and should be able to tackle all of your required stroller needs in a safe manner. It’s quite sizeable, coming in at 12 inches wide by 10 inches of depth. The fact that it’s easy to put together should allow you to avoid any potential risks that come with the process.

All in All!

It’s very easy to put together and is also able to be taken out of the box and constructed without the use of tools. I’m an independent sort of mother, so that was awesome to see! I actually put one of the wheels on upside down, but that was an easy fix – these strollers fold easier than most and the carry strap is just convenient in more than one sense of the word. It’s a high-quality stroller that is easy to push, although, you’ll need two hands at all times (unless you’re really strong!). The cup holder that I can use for myself or my child was a nice touch, and although the storage basket isn’t the largest I’ve ever seen, but it was still incredibly effective. There’s a little pocket located on the shade that holds the rain cover perfectly, so that’s not out of the question by any means!

It’s an amazing stroller that’s very portable and remains stiff competition to some of the sturdiest options around right now. It has a broad selection of incline positions to make use of, which means having a nap in the idle of the day has never been easier!

Perfect Stroller for Traveling Light, Public Transport or Family Vacations

Kolcraft Cloud Plus Lightweight Stroller

Kolcraft Cloud Plus Lightweight Stroller, a single stroller that’s perfect for the family that’s going to be consistently traveling. Regardless of whether you’re a taller person or not, this stroller is going to handle all of your potential needs. Did I mention that there are two wheels on each side? That’s right, this bad boy is a double dose of power and fun.  The handle sits at about my chest, and I’m 5’5 or so – I can’t really recall a better fit when it comes to stroller handles. You can even roll on grass with this stroller, given that the grass isn’t incredibly long.

It’s ideal for taking your kid on a rather lengthy walk or having to worry about it while taking a flight. It’s much more sturdy than the traditional variety of umbrella stroller, and it even has suspension! The seat is a multi-position recline that offers a 5-point safety harness system. It’s comfortable and reclines enough for your child to sleep inside of it. The canopy is large, and I would say that the price point of this model is the reason why it’s such a large canopy. There isn’t an adjustable leg rest, but my kid didn’t seem to mind. The seat isn’t washable, although you should be able to do a simple spot clean. There’s a parent tray with two drink holders included (with extra storage), as well as a removable children’s tray (that also has a double cup holder for juice and other things).

Kolcraft Cloud Plus Lightweight Stroller Features

Parent Tray with Dual Cupholders, Removable Child Tray with Cup Holder and Large Accessible Storage Basket

It isn’t the best option for newborns, and should be used on children ages 6 months or older – the maximum weight is 50 pounds. It’s very portable, which is the ultimate selling point in this particular review! It even folds with the tray still attached, you don’t even need to take it off; that’s the epitome of efficiency. It’s very compact, but isn’t made for car seats; there is a locking mechanism for the back wheels so that it doesn’t move unintentionally. You could even take it upon yourself to turn the harness into one of the 3-point variety.

Efficient Would Be an Understatement

If you’re looking into this stroller, you want something that’s very lightweight (only 12 lbs) and compact. As if that wasn’t enough, having a decent amount of storage space would be a very reasonable cherry on top. You’ll need to be seeking out a 5-point safety harness as well, which this model includes (most strollers in this right only have 3-points).

  • 50-pound weight limit
  • True one hand folding process
  • Both trays stay on when folded, and neither touch the ground
  • Very large storage basket
  • Vast amount of sun shade!
  • Large plastic window in the canopy
  • Padded handles
  • 5-point harness
  • Multi-position reclining seat
  • Rear wheel brakes, as well as front wheel shocks

  • The cup holders are somewhat narrow
  • The kids can’t climb in and out of the stroller without removing the snack tray
  • No additional padding on the seat
  • Seats cannot be removed
  • Wheels are made out of plastic and not rubber

Regardless of these issues, this is still the best model to pick if you’re seeking this particular type of stroller! It has a fantastic price point and has a lot of features when compared to some of the alternative options on the market right now. You can use this stroller for years to come, and not have to worry about whether or not it’s going to fall apart on you! All in all, it’s a fantastic stroller at a fantastic price.
