Here you’ll find the best umbrella strollers that are perfect for travel or everyday use. Excellent for traveling family or someone who lives in an apartment or a small house and doesn’t have enough space.
Portable, comfortable, lightweight, light to carry, easy to use and fold. A great alternative to a bigger standard or a jogging stroller.
They are smaller and easier to maneuver in public transit, busy sidewalks, tight spaces like store aisles, doctor’s office or elevators. Another great advantage is that they are far less expensive.
With so many choices out there the process of buying one can be time-consuming and overwhelming. To narrow down the choices and help you find the best umbrella stroller that you and your baby will love here is a list of best ones that are perfect for everyday use or travel.
Great Traditional Umbrella Stroller
If you’re looking for a compact, umbrella stroller that’s lightweight has decent storage, deep recline seat (not flat), canopy coverage, is easy to fold/unfold and maneuver Summer Infant 3D-Lite Convenience has it all. Super convenient and lightweight. Perfect for on the go or travel. Great for daily errands, walks at the park, trip to the zoo or vacation.
One of the biggest advantages is its maneuverability. Sure, a bigger one is more spacious, offers more features but they are bulky and difficult to navigate in tight spaces. The large wheels move nicely and smoothly. Perfect for urban terrain and all kind of sidewalks. Even gravel and dirt paths or uneven surface and potholes. The front wheels are free spinning giving you excellent control. You can lock them straight in case you want to take it on rougher terrain like grass or gravel. The anti-shock front wheels make the ride very smooth. The rear wheels have individual breaks. Which is a good thing because there is no bar running across the back wheels that you might kick while pushing it. To lock the back wheels you just step on the break and to set it free you lift it with your toe. Very safe, convenient and easy.
It’s incredibly easy to open and fold. Folding down is a breeze. You just push down the latch with your right foot while pulling on the handle and pushing it forward with the other and it automatically clasps itself. To unfold it, just unlock it, shake it and you’re good to go.
A perfect for air travel. The aluminum frame makes it really lightweight and easy to handle. It comes with a super convenient adjustable strap and is easy to carry over a shoulder. Even for a pregnant lady with an older child. It goes nicely into the recommended gate check bag. It’ll have a dramatic (positive) impact on the quality of your travel.
The seat is nicely padded and incredibly comfortable. The fabric is breathable and very easy to clean. It does have a deep recline (not flat) but perfect for napping. If your child is tired and can’t lay down, they’re not a happy camper. So your child will love you even more for this. And you’ll love the 5 point harness. Very easy to use. The swivel clips make it so easy to clip and unclip quickly without it being tangled up or twisted. There is a footrest also so your child’s feet aren’t dangling without being able to put them somewhere.
It does have a sunshade canopy. However, the problem with the sunshade is that it’s too small, not long enough to provide proper protection for you your child. If you need better sun protection you have to buy the Summer Infant Rayshade Cover. It’ll cost you extra but it works great with it and solves the problem. There is no peekaboo window, so if you want to check on your little one you have to move it around or look from the front but that shouldn’t be a big deal.
Usually, they are notorious for being hard to walk with, but you won’t be disappointed with this one. The handlebars placement and height is one of the best features. So whether you’re 5’4″ or 6’2″ rest assured that you’ll be able to walk and push it comfortably without bending over. No kicking in the basket either.
It has nice roomy storage basket underneath and a bag on the back of the seat that can hold small items. You should be able to fit in it a couple of shopping bags or a purse, water bottle and a few other small items. I’ve heard people complaining about the storage, but honestly given the size it would be unrealistic to expect a bigger storage basket. Personally, I love all the storage options. The back pouch is perfect for keys, wallet, phone, lip gloss, sunglasses, etc. Just keep in mind that with the seat reclined, you won’t be able to access the storage basket. So you’ll have to access things from the side or lift the seat back up. Keep in mind, that this is a common issue to have a basket blocked like that.
This model doesn’t have a snack tray, but it does have a pretty sturdy cup holder for a coffee or beverage for your child. What I like about the cup holder, it’s removable. You can attach it close to the handlebar or bring it down to the child level.
Best features of Summer Infant 3D-Lite Convenience

- Easy to open and fold and comes with a convenient adjustable carrying strap
- Compact for travel or to store it in a confined space

- Very lightweight, only 12 lbs
Disadvantages of Summer Infant 3D-Lite Convenience
- Certainly, the canopy size is an issue. However, it can be fixed with Summer Infant Rayshade Cover
- It does recline but not flat, so not suitable for babies under 6 months
- With the seat reclined, the storage basket is difficult to access
ALL IN ALL
At this price point, this is a very good choice, practical, lightweight and very convenient. The quality is excellent. Not a perfect one and has some limitations. But it’ll serve you and hold up very well. Rain and shine. It’ll grow with your child and last a number of years without any damage.
Perfect Mix of Portable, Lightweight and Full-Featured
Stunning Ultralight Umbrella Stroller that’s high quality, well designed, sturdy and smooth riding. Loaded with excellent features, perfect for family vacations, city strolls, park strolls or shopping malls.
I can’t tell how many times I’ve heard parents complaining about the canopy size. This one shines in this department. The adjustable sunshade is enormous and provides very good coverage. So you can rest assured that your child won’t be roasting in the sun. And you’ll love the peek a boo window. It allows you to see how your little one is doing at any time.
When it comes to maneuverability it’s one of the easiest to maneuver in the lightweight category. You can definitely move it with one hand. It runs on double eight 5 1/2 inch wheels which give you more control on a large variety of terrains. It performs great on uneven pavements, grass, gravel and maybe a bit of sand but forget the beach, it’s not meant for that.
The front wheels swivel 360 degrees. You can lock them individually depending on the terrain like gravel or grass. For everyday day use, I’d keep them unlocked.
Each wheel has an individual break. You just step on each to lock them in place and you lightly touch them to let them go free. Very convenient and easy to do.
To ensure that you can bring everything with you there is a large storage basket under the seat. It can hold up to 5 lbs. What’s great about the storage basket is that there is a frame underneath it so in the event you overload it, you won’t drag it on the ground.
On the side of the seat, there are two mesh pockets, you can put in there a drink for your child, snacks, or anything they need close to them like their favorite toys. That will definitely make the trip a lot easier.
There is also a zipper seatback pocket for your keys, wallet, some small baby essentials or anything you need to get out quickly.
It has one of the best folding mechanism. Folding and unfolding it is very easy, all you have to do is unlock the folding mechanism and you’re done. It does have an adjustable shoulder strap so you can throw it over your shoulder. It’s a great feature that allows you to adjust it to your height.
They took one step further and added a stand to allow it to stand on its own. Which is very convenient when you have to store it in an upright position in a closet or small space in your house/apartment. Having one that stands on its own is one of the favorite features for most parents. Especially those who travel a lot.
The handlebars are ergonomic, have soft foam on them and are about 42 inches from the ground. Even though they are not adjustable, the height is well suited for average and tall individuals. If you’re on the short side, you might look for a different one.
The seat 14 inches wide and about 27 high is comfortable and spacious. The recline is almost flat. That means that you can use it from newborn all the way up to 55 lbs. Usually, they start at 6 months and up. For a newborn, there is an extra safety guard attached under the footrest that attaches to the sides that you can wrap around the baby’s feet so they can’t slide out of the seat. That gives you extra protection and peace of mind and protection for your little one. And when your child is older, you just unclip it and it stores nicely under the seat, you won’t even notice that it’s there. So you don’t have to worry about it, it’s always there if you need it.
There are different reclining positions. You can recline it easily with one hand, however, to put it back up you’ll definitely need two hands.
Also, it has a large footrest that’s adjustable so your child can snooze comfortably.
There is an adjustable 5 point harness that is easy to open up with a push of a button. It makes getting your child in and out of it very easy!

It’s an excellent reclining umbrella stroller that’s perfect for everyday or travel. It’s lightweight, very easy to maneuver and it doesn’t skip on quality and features. And you’ll definitely get a lot out of it as it grows with your child from birth and up. It’s important to remember that’s not a travel system and doesn’t take a car seat, but it’s a great inexpensive alternative for someone on a budget and wants something lightweight all the way from birth to 55 lbs. It’s pricier than most in the light category but worth the extra dollars for all the features it offers.

It’s not only light, easy to fold, has a great storage space, easy to use and transport is also super comfy for a child. And the 100% reclining seat is amazing. Also has great wheels, and is very easy to push.
Just a quick note: It works great with Graco Click Connect Infant Car Seat but it also works very well as a stand-alone. So you don’t have to have the Infant Car Seat to be fully functional.
The seat, 14 inches wide and is very comfortable. There is a 5 point adjustable harness. One of the best features is the recline. It has multiple reclines and it lays flat. Perfect for a new newborn or when the baby is older they can comfortably nap in it. The seat recliner is easy to use. You can adjust it with one hand. The leg rest folds up which gives extra peace of mind that a newborn wouldn’t slide out.
The storage basket is large. You can fit in it a diaper bag and a small shopping bag. You will have limited access to it when the seat is fully reclined. That’s a common problem with this type of products and it’s fair trade-off given the lightweight and flexibility.
It doesn’t have a snack tray but there is a convenient cup holder. Another thing to keep in mind is that it doesn’t have a rear pocket on the back for small things or a cell phone.
It has great sun coverage. The canopy is large and will keep the baby’s face in the shade. There is also a large mesh window on top of it so you can peek at your baby. The mesh window is also great for airflow.
Maneuverability on the Breeze is really good and it pushes like a dream. It has 6-inch wheels in front and double 7-inch on the back. The front wheels swivel 360 degrees. You do have the ability to lock them depending on the terrain you’re pushing it. The front wheels have mini suspension for extra stability and a smooth ride on rough pavements. On the back wheels, there are so-called ‘single touch’ breaks, you just step on it to lock the wheels and to unlock them you just lift them up lightly with your toe. Very easy to use. The wheels can handle uneven terrain, some grass or a dirt road very well.
Handlebars are about 39 inches from the ground to were you place your hands. Which is an average and should work for most people. And the ergonomic handles are amazing. They match the natural angle of your grip so your wrists don’t get tired.
Amazingly easy to fold and open. Truly one-hand open and fold mechanism. Once folded, it locks automatically. It even has a nice convenient carrying handle. It’s perfect for airport travel and shopping. It fits in a small trunk and is easy to get into and out of your car. An excellent alternative to a travel system.

Best Lightweight Stroller For a Family On a Budget
Kolcraft Cloud Plus is a lightweight stroller that’s compact and perfect for everyday use and for a family that’s going to be traveling by car or plane. If offers a good amount of storage, one-hand folding process, parent and child snack tray with cup holders.
There isn’t a lot padding on the seat but it’s comfortable for the child even on long rides. For younger kids, there is a 5-point harness that’s easy to use. The seat isn’t washable but the material is easily wipeable so cleaning it isn’t an issue.
It does decline but not all the down, not flat. It can recline approximately 130 degrees or roughly about halfway. It is still comfortable enough for a toddler to nap. The recline is simple and easy to recline and sit back up. There is a strap in the back to pull to tighten, loosen it to recline. The is also not adjustable footrest so the baby can rest their feet on it
Since it doesn’t fully recline, it’s not meant for newborns, it’s for a child that can sit on their own all the up to 50 lbs.
It’s easy to maneuver and runs on 5.75 inches front dual wheels and back wheels are 6.75 inches in diameter. The wheels swivel and there are breaks on the back wheels. It’s easy to push, maneuvers wonderfully around obstacles and it runs well on smooth paths, cobblestone, and sidewalks. For a smooth ride, it has front-wheel suspension.
It’s not meant for gravel, grass or sand. If occasionally you’ll run on a harder surface you’ll have to push it harder but you don’t want to do it every day as the wheels will eventually wear out.
The canopy is large and actually pretty good at covering the baby. It has 3 stages, you can either extend it a bit, halfway or all the way. It gives you a little bit more control of how you want to block the sun. It does have a peek-a-boo window so you keep an eye on your child.
The storage basket below the seat is quite large for its size. Which is very helpful when traveling. It’s big enough to hold a diaper bag, blankets, towels, and rain covers. Also since the seat doesn’t recline all the way to flat, you’ll always have nice and easy access to the storage.
In addition to the storage is has 2 trays. One parent tray with two cup holders. The cup holders are on the small side, you can only place in it a standard 16.9 oz water bottle. And the second one for the child with one cupholder for juice and other things. The one for the child is removable. You can easily get your child in and out of it with the snack tray attached.
It’s incredibly light (11 lbs.), folds down compact, stands up by itself when it’s folded. When folded it’s approximately 13 inches deep by 33 inches long by 18 inches wide. You can pull it in and out of the car with one hand. It has a one-hand folding system, it does take some time to get used to it. At this price point, it’s really good.

BABY JOY – Simple, Lightweight and Inexpensive
If you’re looking for a cheap umbrella stroller that’s lightweight and portable take a look at BABY JOY. It’s very simple and basic. There are no extra features but it’s good at what it was designed for. Good if you want to replace your jogging one with something that’s portable and really easy to use on a daily basis or take it on a vacation.
The seat, about 13 inches wide and 18 inches high is comfortable, however, it doesn’t recline all the way back. Good for short trips, but for longer trips that might require your child to nap it may not the best choice unless your child doesn’t mind napping in an inclined position.
The canopy is attached and folds. Not huge but sturdy and weatherized. Not big enough to have the baby’s body covered but this price point this is as good as you can get.
Easy to maneuver as long as you push it on a smooth surface, cobbled or slate road. You could take it onto loose gravel or a dirt road but the wheels won’t roll easy. That’s something you need to keep in mind.
The handlebars are cushioned and the height will work for most people without having to hunch or kicking the storage basket.
In regards to storage, there is only a basket underneath. Big enough for a diaper bag and a couple of small things. However, there are no side or back pockets for your phone, wallet or keys.
It does have a water bottle holder, but it’s small so don’t expect it to perform well. It’s just small.
BABY JOY best features
- Portable and easy to use for travel or on a daily basis
- From 5-6 months up to 50 lbs
- Weights 12.5 lbs
- Great for a family on a budget
Disadvantages of BABY JOY
- Doesn’t recline for naps. The seat seems to be very upright and not great for naps
- The water bottle holder is small

gb Pockit Plus All-Terrain Small Stroller
The one thing that separates gb PockitPlus All-Terrain from all the competition out there is that when folded it’s the smallest one out there. Perfect for parents who travel a lot, struggle with trank space, live in an apartment and don’t have enough space for a bigger one and want something that’s really compact.
This is one of the few that you can take it on the plane as a carry-on. It fits in overhead storage bit of or you can easily slide it right under the seat. So as soon as you’re off the airplane you unfold it, strap your kid and walk through the airport with a style! Go through immigration and customs with your kids and don’t have to worry about them running around. Only those who travel can tell how convenient it is. Aside from travel, it’s great in the city, amusement parks or shopping.
The seat is roomy and comfortable. It’s about 12 inches wide and 24 inches tall. So there is plenty of room for your child to grow even if you have a tall kid. It comes with a 5 point harness that is easy to use.
It doesn’t recline, however, in this particular model the back leans back a bit for a child to comfortably nap in it. There are different models and not all of them offer adjustable seatback.
Under the seat, there is a small basket, it is small but keep in mind that it’s meant for travel. You could fit in there some baby essentials or a small diaper or handbag.
The sunshade is minimal. It cannot be removed but it’s very flexible and it’s easy to lold it out of the way.
You can unfold it with one hand, but you have to use two hands to fold it. Folding and unfolding is definitely a bit of a learning curve. It’s not hard when you get used to it. Just don’t get the idea that will close and open it in a minute because you’ll be disappointed. Once folded is the tiniest on the market.
Its folded dimensions are 14″ x 12″ x 7″
Another thing that you need to keep in mind is that it doesn’t come with accessories like the carrying bag or strap. You need to use your own bag or buy a new one. It works well with Adjustable Shoulder Straps, they cost around $11.00. Click here for more info. And Heavy Canvas Tote Bag with Zippered Closure. Click here for more info.
Although the name includes ‘All-Terrain’, it’s NOT. So don’t hope that you can hit the running trail or go hiking with it. As long as you are planning on using it on smooth ground, pavement or indoors it’s great. It can handle a bit gravel, grass or rough surface like you’d find in a park or playground. It does work on cobblestone streets, but it’s not the easiest.
The front wheels swivel and are lockable, so if you’re running it on a rougher terrain you can lock them. That should help you with maneuverability. On the back, it has ‘one step’ breaks. Easy to lock or let them go.
As long as you use it on the right surface, the steering is great even with a 30+ pound toddler. It’s easy to navigate it through large crowds or narrow paths with foot traffic.
Although you can maneuver it with one hand, best is to push with two hands. It’s because the handlebars are separate and it’s simply easier to maneuver it this with two hands.
The handlebars are 38 inches from the ground to were you place your hands. It’s petty much standard height and pushing it should be comfortable for most people.
Despite the small size, it is pretty sturdy, not as sturdy as a bigger one or a travel system. But it wasn’t built with sturdiness in mind, it was built for travel. Since it has lots of joints, there’s a bit of flex to the frame but is well-balanced, feels very stable and is very safe.
gb Pockit Plus All-Terrain best features
- Without a doubt, the biggest advantage of gb Pockit Plus All-Terrain is its size. Once folded it’s the smallest one
- Easiest to travel with
- Easy to fold/unfold once you get the hang of it. Like it or not there is a learning curve
Disadvantages of gb Pockit Plus All-Terrain
- You need to buy the travel bag and carrying strap
- You need to be willing to compromise on other features like a sunshade and storage
ALL IN ALL
It is a unique product. Perfect for a family that will be traveling a lot. What sets it apart from the competition is the compact size when folded. Excellent for those who are short on space or need something VERY compact and willing to compromise on other features like comfort, sunshade, and storage.
Price Range: Around $229.95
Great Inexpensive Combination of Compact and Comfort
Tiny Wonders is another great option if you need a small stroller that you can carry on the plane while traveling or for everyday use. Not as compact as gb Pockit but also not as expensive. Moreover, it comes with carrying bag and straps so you don’t have to buy them separately.
When folded it’s about 10″ by 24″. Easy to fold, however, it’s a two-hand operation.
The cotton seat area is comfortable and the seat is 15 inches wide. The seat fabric is fully removable and can be machine washed. For safety, it has a padded 5-point adjustable harness. And if you happened to have a child that’s really active there is also a safety bar. The safety bar is removable. There is also non-adjustable footrest.
Another great feature is that 3-position reclining seat. That’s a huge plus because many in the lightweight category don’t offer this option at all. So your child can be either, sitting, slightly reclined, or sleeping with the seat fully reclined. Since the seat lays flat you can use it from newborn up 50 lbs.
The canopy isn’t big but offers some sun protection and has a peekaboo window on the top. It’s a 3-tier adjustable canopy with UV protection.
There is no snack tray but it has cupholder on the side, a child can easily reach it.
The storage is decent. Good enough for a small diaper bag or handbag. You need to be careful with small items because the storage is open in the back. On the sides, it has a kind of mesh fabric to keep things in place. To give you an extra comes storage, it comes with bag clips to hang it an extra bag on the handlebars.
It’s light, easy to push and maneuver. It turns smooth without any issues. The front wheels swivel 360° and have mini suspension built-in. There is dual brake control on the back wheel.

Compatible with Most Infant Car Seats and Travel READY
Mountain Buggy Nano is one of the most versatile on the market that comes with a number of great features. If you need something that’s super compact, airplane friendly, infant car seat ready, easy to maneuver with one hand and can quickly and easily convert it into a travel system this is an excellent choice.
One of the amazing things about it is that it’s ‘Infant Car Seat Ready’. That means that there is no need to purchase additional adapters. It’s compatible with any infant car seat. So if you have an infant car seat or plan to buy one you can easily convert it into a travel system.
- With an infant car seat, you can use it from infant up to 44 lbs. /or 4 yrs. old
- Without an infant car seat, from 5-6 months up to 44 lbs. and/or 4 yrs. old
The seat is comfortable and cushiony enough for the baby. It’s just under 14 inches wide and the back is 18 inches high. It includes an adjustable 5-point harness to keeps the baby safe. It has one of the best buckles that’s hard for a toddler to open but easy for mom.
The seat does recline but doesn’t go back flat. It’s close enough for a baby to take comfortable naps in it. There is also a footrest and leg rest that moves up and down and makes napping even more comfortable as the baby is able to stretch their feet.
The canopy provides good coverage giving lots of shade. A lot of comparable light strollers have tiny canopies, this one will fully protect the baby’s face, for the legs you could use a muslin cloth if needed.
Instead of having a peekaboo window it has a back mesh that allows for better airflow. There is a cover so can control the airflow depending on weather and season. You can also use it to see how your child is doing.
For being so compact it has a nice size storage basket. You can fit in it an entire diaper bag or medium size backpack. You can reach the basket even if the seat is reclined. If for some reason that’s an issue, you can access the basket from the front. The fabric on the bottom of the basket is strong so even if you overfill it won’t sag and drag on the ground.
It doesn’t have any snack tray, cup holders or back pocket for phone, keys or wallet. If you need something, the Skip hop stroller organizer works with it very well.
Mountain Buggy Nano is one of the EASIEST to maneuver. Thanks to the one-piece handlebar it handles like a dream and it’s EASY to navigate with ONE-HAND. Easy to maneuver on crowded streets, over uneven sidewalks, around tight corners. It’s also quite narrow which is great for places that don’t have wide sidewalks, navigating store aisles, tight spots and for public transport.
The handle isn’t adjustable and is about 39 inches from the floor. That should work for most people without hunching or kicking it while walking. It’s sturdy and the quality is very good. It’ll hold up very well over the years.
It’s easy to fold and unfold. Folding is for sure two-hand operation as you will need both hands to press buttons on either side of the frame. You can unfold with one hand. It does take a few practice attempts to learn the folding technique. Once you get the hang of it, it’s a breeze.
Once folded it’s small, super light and easy to carry
- Folded dimensions: 22 x 12.2 x 20″
- It weights 12.lbs.
Travel-ready: Comes with everything you need. There is no need to buy adapters or a travel bag. It has a nice strap so you can carry it on your shoulder and you can still carry your child in your arm if they want to be held.
It meets all the requirements for carryon luggage, less than 20 pounds and folds up so nicely. So you can take it with you on the plane and it fits nicely in the overhead bin. Some airlines may ask you to take off the wheels.
Everyday Use Friendly: It’s good for everyday use but has some limitations. As long as you don’t plan to store a lot of items in the basket you will be fine. Also, it’s not the best choice if you have to fold it several times a day. It’s OK to do it a couple of times like when you go out of your house or car, go shopping or pick up your child from daycare. But you don’t want to do it several times a day.
Other than that it’s perfect if you live in a city, townhouse, an apartment and don’t have a lot of space to store a regular one. It is extremely lightweight, strong enough and the rear wheels have built-in suspension to absorb shocks.
Mountain Buggy Nano Best Feature:
- Infant seat ready – compatible with any infant car seat
- Extendable leg rest for little babies, that’s priceless for your child to stretch and take comfortable naps
- Single push bar instead of two handles for easy maneuverability
- Folds up small
- Travel-ready: comes with a travel bag and shoulder strap, no need to buy anything extra
- Fits in an airplane overhead compartment
Disadvantages of Mountain Buggy Nano
- The biggest drawback is the two hands fold and you need to give it a good push with both hands. If you’re fine with that, that’s an excellent choice
ALL IN ALL
All other features like comfort for your child and storage are more or less similar to what you would find in a comparable product.
Price Range: $249.99 – $199.99
Note regarding storage:
The vast majority of light strollers don’t provide enough storage which is understandable as they try to make them as light and compact as possible.
However, this can easily be fixed with The Side Sling Stroller Cargo Net. It’s multi-functional, attaches to either side, adds that extra storage space and works with most of them.
Excellent for toys, snacks, lunches, nursing cover, bib, and even water bottles. It costs around $9.99 and is the perfect solution to add extra storage.
